Corrosion is one of the most common risks to metal components during transportation and storage. Especially for precision machined or valuable parts, it can cause significant damage and loss. We offer a modern, proven, dry packaging solution with Volatile Corrosion Inhibitors (VCIs) that protect metal surfaces without the need for oils or greasy coatings.

VCI materials are efficient, clean, easy to use and suitable for all phases – manufacturing, inter-plant logistics, storage and transportation.


1) Which material to choose for overseas transportation?

Overseas shipping presents challenging conditions: high humidity, temperature fluctuations, salty air and long transport times. For these cases, we recommend multilayer solutions:

VCI anticorrosive packaging – e.g. ANTICOfol or paper MULTIferro
Barrier film (e.g. ALU or PE/PA laminates) – ensures airtightness and vapour-tightness
Drying agents (e.g. silica gel) – absorbs residual moisture inside the sealed package
Induction or temperature sealed package – for a hermetically sealed space


2) How to use corrosion resistant packaging correctly

To achieve full and long-lasting protection, the following procedure must be followed:

The product must be clean and dry – free of cleaning agent residue, no grease or fingerprints
Avoid contact with reactive materials – e.g. Strong materials – e.g. wood, adhesives or cardboard
Correctly size the amount of VCI material – according to the volume of the packaging and the type of metal
Packaging must be airtight – welding or adhesive closure recommended
Do not create perforations – even a small hole reduces the effectiveness of protection


3) How does your corrosion protection packaging work?

Our VCI packaging releases active ingredients that:

evaporate and deposit on the metal surface
Form an invisible molecular layer, which prevents the access of oxygen and moisture
They do not affect the physical or visual properties of the part
They work even in confined spaces – e.g. inside equipment, boxes or packaging


4) What is a corrosion inhibitor (VCI) and how does it work?

VCI inhibitors are active substances that:

sublimate from the package into the surrounding environment
Substitute on the surface of metals and inhibit the electrochemical reaction
They require no cleaning after unpacking
They are non-toxic, safe and residue-free

VCI technology is suitable for a wide range of metals – iron, aluminum, copper, brass, stainless steel, cast iron, etc.

5) What material to use for long-term storage?

For storage longer than 6 months, we recommend a combination of:

VCI paper MULTIferro – for packaging individual parts or inserting between layers
VCI film ANTICOfol – for larger units or sensitive components
Barrier packaging and desiccant – for an even higher level of protection
Stable storage conditions – minimum humidity, no direct sunlight

When properly applied, these materials provide protection for up to 24 months or longer.


6) Is it possible to use the anticorrosive wrapping also in intermediate phases?

✅ Yes, VCI packaging is also ideal for short-term protection during production, assembly or storage between manufacturing steps.
✅ Protects against accidental contamination or moisture when moving products between workstations.
✅ Facilitates handling without the need to add oils or lubricants.


7) How long is the anti-corrosion coating effective for?

Up to 24 months with proper use and storage
Possibility of extending protection in combination with barrier films, desiccants or when stored in a stable climate
Performance verifiable by laboratory testing or test packaging


8) Can VCI packaging be combined with anticorrosive oils?

✅ Yes, the combination is not only possible but in some cases recommended – especially in harsh climates
✅ The oil will create a physical barrier, VCI protects cavities, gaps and hidden surfaces
✅ Suitable for machine assemblies, rolled sections or cast iron parts
